Any Macintosh with a least System 7 and Internet Config v1.1 installed. If you don't have IC, don't waste another minute and get it from your favourite Info-Mac mirror!
What does it do?
Drag files onto the icon and their type and creator will be changed, based on the file extension, to whatever you have given it in Internet Config. It cannot be simpler, all the Preferences are set in Internet Config, this application only uses data from IC.
Why?
There are already quite a few applications just like this one, one even came with Internet Config (called Space Aliens Ate My Icons) but somehow these do either have too many options and are not using IC, are shareware (don't like to have a guilty consience) or are slow (like Space Aliens). So, I just spend a few minutes writing this one, it's adding a few lines of code to DropShell 2.0 that does the job.
Other comments
This application is freeware and comes without any warranties. If you do experience problems, first try reading the documentation that comes with Internet Config and make sure you have set everything right there. Other problems come from a corrupt or not up-to-date Desktop file, try rebuilding it using the excellent and free TechTool (Lite?). After having done al that and you still have problems, you can send me email and if I think it is a real problem, I will try to help you fix it.
